We have read all your comments and we have tried to answer lots of questions. 

Why 1D Babies?

So one day I was hanging out with my kids showing them old videos on Youtube of  Shirley Temple.  I was very entertained by a movie I had never seen Shirley Temple in War Babies. I thought it was so funny that this footage was filmed in the 1930's. 

My sister stopped by and saw that I was on Youtube and told me I had to watch this video. She said remember I told you about the Xfactor band from the UK called One Direction. So we all checked out the video.

I thought the video was cute and I liked how catchy the song was. My kids wanted to watch it over and over and my baby couldn't stop dancing. Since the song wasn't available for purchase in the US we had to watch the youtube videos in order to hear the song. So that got me started on checking out all the parody videos. I was very entertained and also surprised at the amount of hits each video was getting.

So I had a great idea let's make a baby One Direction. I called my sis and told her my idea. She was already a fan of the band and she loves her nephew and thought sure why not.
Then I had to convince my friends to let their babies participate. I called 10 friends. No one had heard of One Direction and everyone thought I was going a bit crazy. I finally convinced 4 other friends to join me at Rio Del Mar beach on Thursday evening at 5:00. We wanted that classic moment of What Makes You Beautiful sunset. My sister loves to shop and she brought all the outfits to the beach.

Everyone made it to the beach in time for the sunset and we had a beautiful taping. My daughter was baby Harry's little girlfriend in the video. Baby Harry had to be a bit older because he had to be able to give the flower.

 My son in the darling red pants and striped shirt was Louis. He was so into the sand! He just kept picking it up and throwing it. It was pretty cute.

So my sis did a great job filming and editing the video. She was already a fan of One Direction so she knew that fans would love Louis being messy and Niall being silly.

So we posted the video on Saturday night and we were so excited when we got our first comment. We had 400 views the next morning and we couldn't believe it. Within the first week we got 200,000 hits. We were so proud of our youtube success!

We saw on our comments that Sugarscape sent us here so we quickly found this posting and we were shocked!! A celebrity gossip column featured our babies! No Way!

So lets try it again!

So this time we did One Thing. It entailed a bit more work because trying to match this one meant dying pants, painting Louis' shirt collar, stitching the ribbon on the suspenders, dying Zayn's suit, turning Liam's pant into "skinny"style and painting a bus.

We felt like we had broken into a fan base with What Makes You beautiful. The fans referred to our babies as Harry, Niall, Liam, Louis and Zayn. All the moms did a quick catch up on the band and watched them on youtube on XFactor and A Year in the Making.

 We shot it at VC high school, Britania Arms, Doerr Park and some steps by  our house.

The babies looked so cute and kept running in all different directions. The inbetweeners dance was the last thing on our minds since the babies only ever do what they want anyways.

 We posted and within the first 24 hours we had over 300,000 hits! From there we couldn't believe how fast our video was going. We kept asking each other if this was viral? Viral or not this video was flying!


We were super excited to find out that Harry Styles had tweeted about the babies! 

We would google One Direction Babies and our little guy would pop up all over the globe.

J-14 covered the babies!

And Sugarscape covered the babies again!!

We had 1 million views in one week! We celebrated with a 1 million view party at the park!

Another surprise to us all was when ITN did 50 seconds on the babies calling them 1D Juniors and an internet sensation.

A 1D Baby fan made this awesome collage matching all the scenes to the original.

So we went on to film Gotta Be You. This one involved a little romance between Zayn and another little girl who was in the first video. Our girls are older not because of the whole Caroline Flack issue (which I had to google) but because they can understand directions better I guess. We filmed this at Vasona Park.

 This one turned out cute. This video was a bit more difficult to make it babyish. Our main goal was to get them to stand in a line. Of course in  the other videos they would run in all different directions. So we had them hold onto a clear rope and they all stood so still for a few seconds anyway.  

Wow! Look at this What Makes You Beautiful made it on Sugarscape top fan made videos!!

                             

Our fans were asking for more. One Direction doesn't have anymore videos to copy so we decided to copy the outfits and setting in Dallas. And we put it to Up All Night. My sis went on a hunt and found the outfits. She even painted one of Zayn sleeves red to match. Of course my kid always has to wear stripes. I think he looks cute but I am getting a bit tired of Louis clothes. :)

I really like this video because it matches all the scenes to the band. My sister filmed and edited this one too. She is doing it all with an old camera and imovie. Isn't she great at this?

So One Direction Babies is just a group of moms with a funny idea that actually broke into a fan base. There was no audition or professional videographer or editor. It was just making the normal park date a bit more exciting with fun music, cute clothes and our adorable baby boys.
